Jenny C - Shoulder
After shoulder pain from an old injury started interrupting my sleep, I decided it was time to seek some help. As a life-long side sleeper, I couldn’t keep ignoring it.
My first stop was to see Dr. John Lucas. After thoughtfully reviewing my symptoms, he recommended physical therapy at the Spartanburg YMCA. I dutifully gritted that out and saw some improvements in overall pain and range of motion. However, some symptoms remained.
Dr. Lucas then referred me to Dr. Stephen Kana who recommended a steroid shot in the joint and another round of physical therapy to address one remaining area of weakness near my shoulder blade.
After the shot and the second round of physical therapy, my pain was drastically reduced. While it still flares up occasionally, I’m so happy that I was able to avoid surgery.
